Webinar on Digital Accessibility

On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the National Network of Gender Equality & Anti-Discrimination Committees of Research Centers, in collaboration with the Gender Equality & Anti-Discrimination Committee of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), organized a webinar on digital accessibility. The event, titled "Accessibility of Digital Products and Services for People with Disabilities," featured keynote speaker Dr. Stavroula Doa, Senior Researcher at FORTH. The seminar was coordinated by Dr. Anastasia Tsangarakou and Dr. Magda Chatzaki.

Overview

Digital accessibility focuses on designing and developing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) products and services that can be used seamlessly by individuals with disabilities. While this field has gained attention from academics and professionals in ICT and Human-Computer Interaction since the 1980s, significant challenges remain despite considerable progress. The presentation provided an overview of the current state of digital accessibility, key advancements in the field and the ongoing challenges that need to be addressed.
